The Rebuild Movement by Rick Muenchau

No one tells you what happens after you survive.

The Rebuild Movement is for people rebuilding life after trauma, grief, spinal injury, illness, rock bottom, or a season that took everything they thought they were.

I lost my brother. I lost my sister. I nearly lost my life. Then I had to rebuild a body, a mind, a family, and a business from a hospital bed.

What this is

The Rebuild Movement

The Rebuild Movement is Rick Muenchau's story-first mission for people learning how to rebuild after pain: grief, medical trauma, spinal fusion, autonomic dysreflexia awareness, blood clots, business collapse, identity loss, and the hard middle between surviving and living again.

Before the rebuild

The old life worked. Until my body couldn't carry it.

I was the #1 timeshare closer in Branson. I knew how to walk into a room, earn trust, and close. But the whole life was built on one fragile thing: my ability to physically show up.

Then COVID shut the room down. Grief tore through my family. My brother was gone. My sister was gone. And the same kind of blood clot that took her life was moving through mine.

The truth hit hard: if my income needed my body to be perfect, then I didn't own a system. I owned a prison.

If your body, business, or life has forced you to rebuild — The Rebuild Movement exists so you do not have to do it alone.

When everything went dark

This was not a setback. This was a full system failure.

01

Grief hit first

My younger brother was killed. Then my younger sister died from a blood clot. Some grief does not leave. You learn to carry it forward.

02

The body followed

Blood clots. Pulmonary embolism. Spinal stenosis. Autonomic dysreflexia. A neck and spine that needed hardware to hold together.

03

The business model broke

If I couldn't physically show up, I couldn't earn the way I used to. That realization became the blueprint for rebuilding life and building systems that can work when your body cannot.

The Rebuild Movement starts here

The first night they got me upstairs, the nurse looked at my chart, looked at me, and said:

“I’m surprised you made it up here. Your body looks like an episode of House.”

The single worst moment came when the heparin hit my bloodstream. I thought I was having a heart attack. I could feel the clots moving through my heart.

I should have died. Multiple times. In multiple ways.

I didn’t.

Rock bottom was not a metaphor.

The Rebuild Movement is not for the success crowd.

That used
to be me.

I’m writing this for the one at rock bottom.

No next step. No easy breath. No way out.

So I know you’re real.

There is a way through. It’s hard. It’s slow. Some days, you won’t believe you’ll make it.

I still have those days.

If you don’t have someone in your corner yet — The Rebuild Movement is here until you do.

The hospital-bed decision

Die

or

Build.

Not a slogan. Not a brand line. A real choice made at 3am when the machines were beeping, the grief was crushing, and my body was broken. That choice became The Rebuild Movement.

What The Rebuild Movement teaches

I didn't build from perfect conditions. I built from impossible ones.

Everything on this site comes from this truth. The tools, the business, the community, The Unkillables, the spinal injury and autonomic dysreflexia awareness work — all of it exists because I had to learn how to survive, rebuild, and create systems that could run when I couldn't.

“I build because my brother and sister can't.”
That's not motivation. That's a mission.

This site is dedicated to Benny and Christy Muenchau — loved and lost too soon.

The Rebuild System

Three truths changed everything.

Not hype. Not toxic positivity. Just the hard-earned framework behind The Rebuild Movement: mindset, systems, and story.

01

Mindset is the foundation.

Before I rebuilt the business, I had to rebuild the story I was telling myself about who I was after grief, trauma, spinal injury, and everything that changed.

02

Systems replace willpower.

Motivation fades. Pain does not ask permission. Systems had to keep running when my energy window closed.

03

Your story is your strategy.

The hardest thing you survived is not something to hide. It is the proof, the connection, and the reason people trust you.

Choose where you are

The story comes first. The next step comes second.

No pressure. No fake urgency. Just the door that fits the season you're in — whether you need Rick Muenchau's story, spinal injury awareness, rebuild tools, or The Unkillables community.

BETWEEN TWO PATHS

NOT READY FOR THE COMMUNITY.

Autonomic Dysreflexia Awareness
When the World Overlooks Your Pain

Make Them
See It.

"Every year, thousands of people with spinal cord injuries experience life-threatening episodes of Autonomic Dysreflexia — and most emergency rooms still don't know how to treat it. I've lived it. I've been sent home mid-attack. I've watched people suffer because no one recognized the signs."

— Rick Muenchau

That's why I built this movement — not just to share my story, but to shine a light on the system that keeps ignoring ours. If you or someone you love has a spinal cord injury, the information on this page could save their life.

What Is Autonomic Dysreflexia?
A sudden, dangerous rise in blood pressure in people with spinal cord injuries at or above the T6 level. The body's nervous system cannot regulate itself properly — causing a medical crisis that can become life-threatening within minutes.
Warning Signs — Recognize These
  • Sudden severe pounding headache
  • Profuse sweating above the injury level
  • Flushing or blotchy skin on face and neck
  • Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
  • Goosebumps below injury level
  • Blurred vision or nasal congestion
  • Anxiety or overwhelming feeling of dread
Common Triggers
  • Bladder distension or blockage (most common)
  • Bowel impaction or distension
  • Pressure sores or tight clothing
  • Ingrown toenails or skin irritation
  • Temperature extremes
🚨 Emergency Action
Sit the person upright immediately — this lowers blood pressure. Find and remove the trigger. Loosen any tight clothing. If blood pressure remains dangerously high — call 911 and tell them it is an Autonomic Dysreflexia emergency.
